I have 36 days until my flight to Tokyo. The reality of this number and what it means for me in terms of admin has really been weighing heavily on me this week so much so that I must confess, I couldn’t get my original topic together in time. So I’m sorry, this one won’t be very long or interesting.

What can I say? It’s tricky. When I think of this 36 days, I think of all my loved ones and how I now have to squeeze time with them all into this 5 weeks. That’s 5 weekends, or rather 10 days for those that have day jobs that need to be considered.

It’s also tricky because when I think of this 36 days, I’m impatient and I can’t wait to start my new life and meet a bunch of new people from all over the world. Imagine all the cool cultural differences we’ll learn about and the similarities we’ll stumble upon that will amaze us.

Mostly it’s tricky because I have 36 days before my flight and nothing is ready. In my mind, when I planned my 2 month hiatus from working life, I figured all my admin and paperwork would be done within the first week. But here I am, bogged down by things that I won’t remember a few months from now when I should be concentrating on the things that matter.

Anyway, chat soon. Hopefully next time it’ll be about something more uplifting.
